I love capturing real, raw, radiant moments for the brightest of souls with the biggest of love. Learn more...
This past Saturday, Lexi & Chris finally got to enjoy the wedding celebration they’ve been dreaming about for over two years! But let me tell you, this day was well worth the wait. And even though the path to this day was full of cancelled plans, heartbreak, uncertainty, frustration, and family loss, it’s also been full of unconditional love, friendship, flexibility, and maybe even some silver linings. And quite honestly if Lexi & Chris can get through what they have in the past few years, they can get through anything!
Lexi & Chris’ wedding day began with each of them getting ready with their respective wedding parties in the Crossroads of Kansas City. After getting dressed (for the last time!) in their wedding clothes, we headed over to the Kauffman Center for Lexi & Chris’ first look. Soaking up those first-look feels, we captured some beautiful couple’s portraits around the Kauffman Center property before the rest of the wedding party met up with us.
Lexi’s bridesmaids were dressed in a variety of stunning beaded and sequined gowns. I loved this mix-and-match look and the girls pulled it off beautifully! Chris’ groomsmen looked dapper in their light gray suits. The overall light and bright color palette felt fresh and right at home in the early spring landscape. And even though it was (another!) windy day in Kansas City, by now I’m a total pro at navigating these gusts 😉 We made the wind work in our favor and I loved the results!
After wedding party portraits, the entire crew headed back to the Terrace on Grand for Lexi & Chris’ vow renewal ceremony on their beautiful rooftop. Somehow it was less windy up there than at Kauffman Center! And the ceremony looked beautiful nestled among the city’s skyline.
Lexi & Chris’ long-awaited reception was filled with delicious food, heartfelt toasts, touching dances, and a packed dance floor! At the very end of the evening, Lexi & Chris shared a final dance back on the rooftop. I love that they carved out time for this one last private moment before their grand exit.
If there’s one silver lining about the pandemic, it’s that it brought Lexi & Chris and I together. I wasn’t their original photographer because I was booked for their original wedding date last May. But as plans shifted, the three of us realized that we would finally be able to work together and I couldn’t be more grateful for it. Being a part of Lexi & Chris’ wedding day was so special and meaningful, and it was an honor to capture it. Check out some of my favorite moments below:
