Kansas City Wedding Photography FAQs

Below is a list of my most frequently asked wedding photography questions.

Kansas City Wedding Photography FAQs

How long have you been a photographer?

I began professionally photographing in 2016, when two dear friends asked for me to capture their engagement photos. Before then I’d never really photographed people except for the occasional snapshot! From that one session, I finally realized what portraiture photography is all about: capturing real love and helping people celebrate important life milestones.

Do you edit your own photos?

Yes I do! I believe that culling and editing my own photos is one of the best ways to continue learning as a photographer.
As I work through the images I capture at your wedding, I’m reliving our time together and culling the images to recreate the story. My goal is for anyone who sees the finished images to be able to feel like they were a part of the moment.

How would you describe your photography style?

I describe my style as bright, classic and lively. I want you to be able to look back on your photos in 5, 10, 50 years and recognize yourselves – not some over-posed, over-edited version of yourselves. This goal guides my editing style (focusing on realistic and flattering skin tones) and my approach to guiding you into flattering compositions that capture your true selves and connections.

Will you be the photographer at our wedding?

Yes I will! I am the owner and sole employee of Bailey Pianalto Photography. (Well, unless you count my puppy Nora…)
I love owning my own business, and one of the best perks is getting to know and admire the couples and clients I serve. That’s why I limit the number of weddings I serve each year. I want to ensure that all of my couples and clients receive my full attention during our time together.

How many images do you deliver from a wedding?

The number of images delivered in your final gallery will depend largely on the complexity of the day and the amount of coverage time. At the very least, you can expect to receive about 75 images per hour of coverage.

When can I expect to receive my final wedding gallery?

You can expect a sneak peek of the day 48 hours after your celebration, and your final gallery will arrive just 2 weeks after your wedding day! I want you to be able to relive every amazing moment as quickly as possible 🙂
You’ll receive your images in a private online gallery that you can use to share with friends and family, download high-res images (ALWAYS download your images and store them in a safe backup location!), and order prints.

Do you deliver images in both color and black & white?

I deliver nearly every image in full color. Select images will be delivered in both color and black & white if I feel the image is better represented in black & white. Very rarely will I deliver an image in just black & white.

What is included in your wedding photography collections?

All of my wedding collections include pre-wedding consultation meetings, my onsite coverage of your wedding day, and the editing and delivery of your final image gallery.
All Kansas City-based wedding collections include an engagement session and assistant photographer. These services are available a la carte for all destination weddings.

Do you have recommendations for other wedding vendors we should consider?

I’ve worked with a wide variety of Kansas City-based wedding professionals, and I’m happy to offer my recommendations for pros across all categories that match my level of quality and professionalism. You can see the full list here.

What will be your approach to photographing our wedding day?

On your wedding day, I don’t want you to worry about a thing except the champagne-to-OJ ratio in your mimosa! I’ll be there to watch our timeline and keep us on track. Most of the day, I’ll step back, allowing the day to unfold in front of my camera. For more formal portrait moments, I’ll guide you and your wedding party to make sure everyone is looking their best.

Do you offer print & album services?

I absolutely do! I offer direct print ordering services through your private online gallery. All albums are collaboratively designed by you and me.
I firmly believe that swiping through pictures on a screen isn’t quite like holding a print in your hand or turning the crisp pages of an album. In today’s digital world, images are easy to come by, and easy to get lost on your phone. The images we make together are chronicling milestones in your life and they deserve a prominent place in your home.

What additional costs are associated with traveling to photograph our wedding?

Any sessions outside of the Kansas City metro area require a travel fee. Together we’ll create a travel stipend that covers all airfare and hotel fees. This way, you won’t have to chase receipts or worried about meal per diems. Any driving travel fees will be calculated by the current IRS standard mileage rate.

Do you offer videography services?

I do not. I prefer to specialize in still photography and leave videography to the talented pros who are far better at that than me.
If you are looking for a videographer to capture your event, I’m happy to refer several professionals to you.

How can we learn more about your working with you?

I can’t wait to chat with you! Please complete this contact form and I’ll be in touch with you within 24 hours.
