At long last, Kathryn & Brandon’s beautiful wedding celebration is here!! This past weekend was just a DREAM to be a part of, and I couldn’t feel luckier that Kathryn & Brandon let me in on the fun.
Kathryn & Brandon began their mornings getting ready with their respective wedding parties at the Loews Hotel in downtown Kansas City. After stepping into her gown (for the very last time!) Kathryn surprised her parents and in-laws with thoughtful gifts. The mamas received beautiful clutches with handwritten notes printed inside them, while the papas received cuff links with childhood photos incorporated into them.
Gestures like these are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the love and thoughtfulness that Kathryn & Brandon bring to the world. They are both so genuinely kind and caring people. Maybe that’s why they both gravitated to their respective medical fields. And it’s definitely what brought them together. Watching Kathryn & Brandon navigate life together (with all of its ups and downs) has been the stuff of storybooks. The love and respect they have not only for each other, but for the relationship they share, is an inspiration.
After their private first look, Kathryn & Brandon and their wedding party bravely conquered the cold to capture their wedding party portraits. Now, let’s keep in mind that everyone in this crew is from the south, so you can imagine just how jarring these 32° temperatures were. But true to form Kathryn & Brandon and their crew took every gust of wind with a smile on their faces, and the results were sooooo worth it!
After sunset, Kathryn & Brandon celebrated their marriage with a unity ceremony. These two originally planned to get married in July, when Kansas City’s humid weather was a more familiar climate. But the universe had other plans that forced them to postpone. So instead these two lovebirds celebrated a small courthouse ceremony in the summer and saved the celebrating for later.
And boy was it worth it!
Kathryn & Brandon’s reception was filled with heartfelt (and at times hilarious!) toasts from some of their very oldest and dearest friends. Then it was time to fill the dance floor! And when your feet got tired, you could wash down your cocktail with one of four flavors of spun-on-site cotton candy – a special surprise for Brandon!
The renewlyweds closed their epic evening with a sparkler exit and to their vintage getaway car. It truly was the cherry on top to the most perfect day spent with some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met. Selfishly, I’m so sad that their celebration is over. But that sadness is eclipsed by my happiness for this deserving couple who finally got their dream wedding day 🙂
