Last week I finally got to meet Alyssa & Jack in person and help them celebrate their engagement! These two infused so many personal touches into their session, including one that took them back in time!
We began their session at Loose Park. The rose garden is in bloom again this time of year and the roses paired so perfectly with Alyssa’s adorable dress! We also took the opportunity to pop a little champagne while we were there. (Is this like a new requirement for all BPP couples? I hope so!)
Our second stop was exploring downtown Kansas City. Alyssa currently lives in New York City, and I love that we got to infuse a bit of urban architecture into their session.
We saved the very best part of their session for the very end. Back in 2015, when Alyssa & Jack’s relationship was just blossoming and Alyssa was getting ready to leave town for college, these two had the beautiful forethought to create a time capsule of their relationship! They planned to open it when they were engaged.
For years that box traveled around with Alyssa to all of her various dorms and apartments. And last night, they finally opened it together at the end of their engagement session! It was full of little mementos from that summer together and included letters that they’d each written to each other.
I’m impressed that high school Alyssa & Jack had the confidence to know that they were the ones for each other, even through so much distance and time. And I love that they were able to bring a little bit of their long past into an evening celebrating their future together.

The rose garden’s fall bloom is absolutely STUNNING right now! It really is one of the best blooms I’ve seen in years!
CHEERS TO ALYSSA & JACK!
Your wedding next summer will be simply stunning! I can’t wait to be a part of the fun 🙂
And check out their second engagement session in Central Park and their wedding day!!
