On Saturday at 5 pm surrounded by their closest friends & family, Liz & Mike were married! And WOW what a wedding day it was! Every single detail was curated and considered. Every vendor was on their A game. Every member of the wedding party was a joy to celebrate with! Liz & Mike’s wedding was truly a reminder of why I love my job and the couples I get to serve!
When I speak with my past couples, many of them will describe feeling a “wedding hangover” after their big day. All the planning and excitement has come to an end.
Well on Sunday, I felt my own kind of all-too-familiar wedding hangover. I was already missing Liz & Mike and their wonderful friends and families!
We spent the entire day in and around the Hotel Kansas City taking full advantage of this building’s historic beauty. Why go anywhere else? Liz & Mike got ready separately with their respective wedding parties. After Liz shared a touching first look with her father, she finally got to see her almost-husband! After their first look, Liz & Mike exchanged letters for each other to read.
Wedding party and couple’s portraits were captured outside in front of the hotel’s beautiful facade before it was time for family formals and the ceremony in the Tudor Room! Liz & Mike were able to fully enjoy mingling with their guests during cocktail hour (a rare thing on most wedding days!) before their reception. But before we left for the evening we took a few final newlywed portraits just at sunset!
After wedding days, I don’t often get to see my couples again except at chance encounters around town or at other weddings. But Liz & Mike don’t live here in KC, so I can only hope that our paths will cross again soon! And yes, I get to relive their day again and again while I edit their images. But it’s simply not the same as hearing Liz’s laugh or watching these two be surrounded by love and friendship.
Liz & Mike’s elegant Hotel Kansas City will stay with me for a long time 🙂

We made sure to capture a few portraits inside the hotel as well! Their chandeliers are some of the most beautiful in the city!
It was important to Liz & Mike that they get to spend time with every guest at their wedding. So they set up a receiving line after their ceremony to welcome guests to cocktail hour!
As part of her maid of honor toast, Janelle serenaded the couple with a beautiful song, and every guest chimed in to sing along. This moment felt so special, and when I saw Liz tear up I couldn’t help but cry too!
Fernando Productions kept the dance floor full all night long!
Right at sunset, we snuck outside for a little break from the reception to let Liz & Mike share a few moments alone as newlyweds. These are some of my favorite portraits of the day!
Your wedding day was an absolute dream and it was an honor to capture it!
