Lauren & Brett’s wedding was one of the most magical transformations of The President Hotel I’ve ever seen. After photographing so many beautiful wedding receptions at this iconic KC landmark, I finally got to photograph my first ceremony!
The President has been Lauren’s dream venue for years now. While she was getting ready on Saturday morning, she looked out the window with her mom and still couldn’t imagine that this day was truly happening here in Kansas City.
You see, it wasn’t always a given that Lauren would get married at The President. Lauren’s life and career have taken her all across the country (and globe!) But all those major life transitions and leaps of faith also brought Lauren & Brett together. They met after Lauren moved to LA for her dream job. Clearly, things have fallen into place for her the past few years 🙂
And on Saturday, Lauren & Brett’s wedding day perfectly fell into place! Their Jewish ceremony in the ballroom was simply gorgeous, and the perfect backdrop for L&B’s first look at the altar. After the ceremony, while the ballroom was magically transformed into a show-stopping reception space, Lauren & Brett and their wedding party headed outside for portraits. We then kicked the wedding party back up to cocktail hour so L&B could spend some quality alone time together as newlyweds. The images we captured during this lighting round of portraits (we were losing our light to sunset!) so perfectly captured Lauren & Brett’s fun and playful selves. To say I’ve fallen in love with these two and their families is an understatement!
Lauren & Brett’s reception was filled with heartfelt toasts, delicious dinner and cake, and a packed dance floor! At one point, Lauren was supposed to sneak out for an outfit change, but she didn’t want to miss a minute of KC Flo’s music! (And let’s be honest, her wedding gown was too pretty to take off anyway!) These two lovebirds closed the night with a private dance and sparkler exit.
At the very end, when L&B should have been hugging their guests and heading to their hotel suite, they took the time to give me the biggest hug and say the kindest things about me and my team. This meant so much to me, and shows sooooo much about Lauren & Brett’s characters. They are such genuinely kind and welcoming people. Capturing their wedding day was a true honor. I miss them already!!
