Yesterday I finally got to meet Kimber and Michael as a couple when we captured their engagement session! Guys, I had an absolute blast with these two. They are all laughs (can we just take a minute to appreciate Kimber’s gorgeous smile??) and are always looking for their next adventure together. A couple after my own heart, I caught these two debating their dinner plans while I was photographing Kimber’s engagement ring. They had some great choices, but how to narrow down to the right one? I’ll have to ask them what they settled on…
Kimber & Michael first met in college through their friend group. This foundation cemented a close-knit social circle that still stands. Their wedding reception will reflect this, because they’re planning to pull out all the stops to celebrate with their friends!
But yesterday was all about these two and the relationship they’ve built over the past few years 🙂
Kimber & Michael selected their session date months ago. Kimber is an elementary school teacher and Michael is an accountant, so they were hoping to celebrate their engagement at a time when things were a little less chaotic in their schedules. As yesterday’s session drew closer, the forecast was looking more and more uncertain. Midwestern weather is difficult to predict anyway, but this day felt extra crazy. Thankfully, the forecast held and we were able to enjoy a cool spring evening with the Nelson-Atkins Museum’s sculpture garden virtually to ourselves. Kimber’s parents were also kind enough to bring their pup Ollie over for a few pup pics! (You just gotta see this cutie pie!)
A fun fact about Kimber’s engagement ring: the center stone is from Michael’s mother’s engagement ring! I love that she passed this on to this wonderful couple. To create the rest of the ring, Kimber told me that she gave Michael “heavy suggestions”. 😉
Here comes Ollie!!!
I don’t think these two ever stopped smiling!
Our second stop was to take in the Kansas City skyline from my favorite vantage – the Scout statue. I love the layers of KC that unfold behind you in this area. It’s not like any other skyline spot in KC!
Our light was fading fast when we arrived at the statue, but we were able to capture a few moments with the skyline just as the clouds were beginning to lift behind us!
I cannot wait to celebrate your wedding day next June. We are going to have an absolute BLAST!
