Earlier this week I got to travel to Pennsylvania to finally meet Alex & Ted in person and capture their engagement session at Longwood Gardens! As we walked between each garden throughout the property, we had the chance to talk about their wedding plans, favorite travel spots, and swap jokes. I loved having the chance to spend more time with this wonderful couple and getting to know them better!
And we could not have asked for a more perfect evening at Longwood Gardens. The last time I visited the gardens (also in May), the place was packed and it was so hot. As I got ready for Alex & Ted’s session, I was mentally preparing for all of the crowds and reviewing all of my go-to tricks to avoid distractions (read: tourists) in the background of these timeless images. But Lady Luck was shining down on us – along with a perfectly sunny and cool day! – and we ended up having the gardens practically to ourselves. As we walked from the main fountain garden to Pierce’s Park to the Pierce-du Pont House to rose garden (with a quick stop at the meadow and peony garden in full bloom!) we barely had any other guests to contend with. I still can’t believe how lucky we got!
Alex & Ted actually planned their engagement session right around the one year anniversary of their proposal! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate, can you? They chose Longwood Gardens for this session because they are both avid nature lovers. They spend almost all of their free time taking long walks in the park near their home, going on hikes, rock climbing, and sailing. They even chose their wedding venue – Appleford Estate – because of its natural beauty tucked back in the woods of Villanova. So it was a no brainer when they selected Longwood Gardens for their engagement session. The property has the perfect blend of manicured spaces and wild organic gardens, which created beautiful variety in their images. Check out a few of my favorites from this perfect day!
