Ellie & RJ’s Saturday celebration was a dream come true, made complete with their closest friends & family surrounding them and a little extra luck sprinkled ( 😉 ) on top!
Ellie & RJ’s wedding day was simultaneously elegant and easygoing, which perfectly describes these college sweethearts! Their goals were to create a welcoming, fun, and memorable day for them and their guests. And they certainly made that happen!
Ellie’s stunning gown and cathedral veil brought the glam while her custom white boots were a nod to her country roots. RJ’s navy tux was both classic and modern at the same time. And don’t even get me started on their beautiful flowers!
After Ellie & RJ’s beautiful Catholic ceremony, these lovebirds raced to the Nelson for portraits with their wedding party. We captured a few stunning portraits before the rain rolled in, but Ellie & RJ’s smiles never faltered. Umbrellas in tow, we headed to our rain backup spot (always great to be prepared!) and finished what we’d started. And honestly? I liked our backup spot better! Ellie’s color palette paired perfectly with the Grand Ballroom’s sleek facade. (And fun fact: This spot is actually where Vince and I had our wedding photos taken 8+ years ago because it poured on our wedding day!)
Next it was time to get Ellie & RJ off to their reception at The Gallery! Ellie & RJ have grown up among close-knit families and friend groups, and they wanted to get to spend as much time as possible with their guests on their wedding day. How’d they make that happen? By making sure they attended their own cocktail hour! I love that they carved out this extra time with their guests.
Their reception was filled with hilarious and meaningful toasts from the couple’s parents and siblings. But the real magic happened after all the pleasantries. That’s when Ellie & RJ (with the help of Lost Wax) kept the dance floor packed all night long – except when we snuck out to capture a few night shots in the rain 😉
It was a true honor to capture Ellie & RJ’s wedding day. I wish we could relive it again and again! (Though maybe we’ll skip the rain next time!)
