Happy New Year!
I don’t mean to brag, but I’m pretty sure my 2021 is off to the very best possible start. That’s because less than 48 hours after the ball dropped, I got to spend a magical evening capturing Karleigh & Alex’s engagement session in a pristinely wintry Kansas City!
I’m sorry, but is there ANY BETTER way to kick off the new year than with these two?? I mean seriously! And if you’re doing a double take right about now it’s because Karleigh looks an awful lot like her dear sister (and fellow BPP bride!) Kellyanne! And YES both sisters will be celebrating their weddings this year! I love my job so much 🙂 ⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What makes Karleigh & Alex’s engagement session all the sweeter? Everything that aligned in the universe to make this moment happen:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. I met Karleigh (and the rest of her sweet family) years ago through a sorority sister of mine. They were one of the first families I ever photographed!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Karleigh & Alex just celebrated their -1 year anniversary! That’s right – these two lovebirds are getting married this coming New Year’s Eve!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Karleigh was hoping for wintry wonderland engagement images to match her wintry wedding, and WOW did the universe deliver by dropping 4+ inches of perfect snow on Kansas City exactly one year before their wedding day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did I mention that I love my job and the people I get to do it for? Thank you, universe 🙂
We began our engagement session at Union Station to capture its timeless beauty. Karleigh & Alex’s pup Sammie got to join us for the outside fun as well!
Quick break inside Union Station to warm up!
And what Union Station engagement is complete without a champagne toast and a glamorous outfit change??
Karleigh & Alex’s meeting was also one of those stars-aligning-into-perfection kind of moments: Alex’s college roommate used to work with Karleigh. This connection helped create a close-knit friend group that spent many a weekend exploring the city. Karleigh & Alex were partners in crime (and shots) well before they decided to become partners in life!
Cheers to the new year!
Our second stop was at the WWI Memorial. The memorial itself was closed, but really all we wanted was the property’s spanning vistas and pristine snow. And that’s what we got!
Just before sunset, the most perfect bit of sun peeked out from behind the clouds, wrapping these two in the softest golden light. (Did I mention I love my job?)
Sammie Jae is model ready!
Thank you both for dropping everything in the name of perfect snow to capture these moments together.
New Year’s Eve 2021 is going to be a BLAST!!!
