On Saturday, surrounded by their very closest friends & family, Diana & Randy were married! If you’ve been keeping up with 2020, you know that this celebration is a true feat, and I’m so proud of Diana & Randy’s ability to navigate this with such grace and flexibility!
Diana & Randy are no strangers uncertain forecasts (both the weather and metaphorical kind, to be clear). Remember their engagement session when we navigated a massive Kansas thunderstorm?
In lieu of postponing the wedding entirely, Diana & Randy opted to pare down their wedding day to create a more intimate celebration. Their priority was to be married, and celebrate later. And in my opinion, this only helps the celebration last longer and feel sweeter! They will hold a larger reception next summer at Boulevard.
Diana and her bridesmaids got ready at her parents’ home in Leawood, Kansas, while Randy got ready with his groomsmen at their home. They got to see each other before the ceremony inside the church’s secluded memorial garden. After the ceremony, Diana & Randy met up with their wedding party at Prairiefire for group portraits before heading to their reception dinner down the street.

Diana wore her grandmother’s necklace to keep her close on this day. I love when family heirlooms are incorporated into wedding days in such meaningful ways!

During the ceremony the pastor read portions of letters Diana & Randy had written to each other during marriage prep.
In Diana’s letter, she told Randy how much she appreciates his strength and support. Anytime she is upset, he is there with an extra big hug to help dry her tears. It was no surprise, then, that Randy was prepared with a tissue from his pocket when his bride needed to dry her eyes before they exchanged rings.
It’s easy to see Diana & Randy’s love for each other in little moments like this, and in big moments like planning a wedding in a pandemic. I know that through it all their love will conquer even the largest obstacles that come their way.

After family portraits, I stole Diana & Randy away for a few quiet moments alone. I love looking for moments like these on wedding days when the couple can spend some much-needed time together without any other distractions.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing in this tallgrass park across many seasons, and each one is beautiful in its own way. But I have to say that this lush summer season might just be my favorite!
