What’s better than a destination wedding? Probably a destination wedding in the Bahamas. What’s better than a destination wedding in the Bahamas? A destination wedding in the Bahamas in January!
Sarah and Jon (who you may recognize from my previous blog post of their engagement session!) met and started dating over 10 years ago! They’re bonafide high school sweethearts 🙂 We three went to high school together!
Sarah and Jon celebrated their long overdue wedding by bringing together their closest friends and family for a small ceremony on the beach in the Bahamas. Vince and I even got to be in the wedding, which was a huge honor! How did I shoot a wedding that I was in, you might ask? Simple! For any photos I was in, I set up my tripod and remotely shot photos by connecting my camera wirelessly to my phone. Technology!
One of the absolutely coolest parts about Sarah and Jon’s wedding was the team effort that brought it together. Bridesmaid Casey did Sarah’s makeup, I did her hair and photographed the day, groomsman Zach arranged Sarah’s floral bouquet, and just about everyone else did the grocery shopping that brought together our lobster reception feast and cakes (Zach did the cooking)! There was something just so beautiful and special about seeing all of Sarah and Jon’s closest friends coming together to help them create this special day!
The day started with all of the girls taking over Sarah’s room to begin her primping. We did her hair before lunch at a local restaurant, then headed back in the afternoon to do her makeup and get her ready for her first looks. Sarah had first looks with both her dad and her groom, which were both really special to see. Afterwards, I stole the couple away for a walk along the beach for their couple’s portraits! These shots capture both the fun-loving nature of Sarah and Jon, as well as the quiet moments they got to have together before regrouping for wedding party photos and the ceremony.
For the wedding party photos, I set up my tripod and synced my phone to my camera, then hid my phone behind bridesmaid Chelsea’s back so no one could see it in the photos. Then we clicked away!
The ceremony was a beautiful event because Sarah’s brother Thomas married them! He did a fantastic job. After the ceremony, we fired up the grill to cook our delicious lobster and enjoyed the rest of the evening celebrating, eating, and enjoying each other’s company!
