Wedding planning is taxing in the best of times. Wedding planning in the middle of a pandemic? Downright stressful! Today’s couples don’t know what to plan for, what to get excited for, what they can look forward to, or what they’re going to have to live without. I feel for my couples going through this, but this is not a post about that 🙂

With everything going on in the world, Anamarie & David decided that an evening away would be the perfect reset. So they said goodbye to their pups for the night, packed up their cutest outfits, scheduled a hair appointment, and headed out to the Hidden Valley Wilderness Retreat in the Kansas countryside. And I came with them!

Okay, you’ve probably already gathered that this was no ordinary getaway 😉 This adventure was not just about getting away from the mundane. It was about capturing Anamarie & David’s engagement session! These two lovebirds had their hearts set on a woodsy countryside scene, and as usual I was down for the adventure. I absolutely love exploring new places with my couples and capturing completely unique-to-them engagement photos!

Down-to-earth almost feels like too cliche of a description for this couple, but that’s the honest truth. Throughout our time together last night, never once did they sweat the small stuff. From the past week’s rains we had some very muddy conditions, cloudy skies, and will-it-won’t-it forecast obsessing. But through it all these two remained positive and supportive. If anyone can handle the curve balls life will (and has) thrown at them, it’s Anamarie & David!
