Cheers to Kelsey & Chris!

Last night was actually the second time I’ve had the pleasure having these two lovebirds in front of the camera. The first time was this May, at their actual proposal! Chris orchestrated the entire thing, staging a dinner with his mother at Verbena in Meadowbrook. What he conveniently didn’t tell Kelsey about was the fact that her entire family had flown in for this dinner. Oh and that he had a beautiful diamond ring in his pocket to give her 🙂

On the day of their proposal it poured, but the moment was still beautiful and special. Thankfully we left the rain behind us in May and we had pristine weather for Kelsey & Chris’ engagement session last night! The perfect fall evening 🙂

Downtown Kansas City

We began our session in downtown Kansas City, first at the Hotel Kansas City. Because of sunset times right now, we started at 4:30 pm, right when rush hour was beginning! Just as Kelsey & Chris walked up to the hotel to meet me, the streets turned a bit chaotic. Why? Because the US Women’s National Soccer team was also arriving at the hotel! They were staying there while they were in town for their match last night. Sadly, we didn’t get to see any players, but we did get some gorgeous portraits outside of the hotel before heading exploring a few other spots around downtown.

One stop was the Midland Theatre. Chris used to bartend at the theatre, so this place has special meaning for him. So of course we had to get a few portraits there! Then we headed straight for an ivy wall that I just love and paired perfectly with Kelsey & Chris’ bold and romantic color palette.
