spring Farms at Woodend Springs wedding

Angela & Joe’s wedding day was such an elegant and fun celebration! We photographed at two of my favorite places – the Nelson-Atkins Museum and their venue The Farms at Woodend Springs. But before any of that, we enjoyed a beautiful ceremony at a church near and dear to the couple’s heart: St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas. This is actually where Joe went to school as a kid!

Another personal touch to their day was Angela’s wedding gown. It was originally her mother’s gown! With the expert help of Kendra J Bridal, Angela transformed this 20+ year old gown into a modern showstopper complete with detachable skirt! I could not get enough of this 🙂 I bet it was so surreal for Angela’s mother to help her daughter into her own gown after all of this time. Imagine the memories and emotions it brought up!

Angela & Joe opted to not have a first look, which made their ceremony all the more special when Angela walked down the aisle for the first time. After the ceremony, the two exited the church with a fun bubble exit created by all of their guests. After formal family portraits inside the sanctuary, it was time for the wedding party to head to the Nelson-Atkins Museum for portraits. We had a beautiful day on Saturday, which made their portrait time all the more enjoyable!

And after we finished with the wedding party’s group photos, we sent them back on the trolley so that Angela & Joe could finally enjoy some time alone on their wedding day. I love the images we captured at the Nelson of these two, but I love the portraits we captured at sunset at The Farms at Woodend Springs! This property has so many lovely spots to choose from for couple’s portraits.

Angela & Joe’s reception featured the unbeatable Lost Wax band. They kept the dance floor full all night long, even when Angela & Joe snuck out for their sunset sparkler exit.

I couldn’t have asked for a better day capturing this long-awaited union. Cheers to Mr. & Mrs. Petrie!
